This update will mess things up throughout the game. Smiters wont be able to use symbol of wrath and balthazors aura, eles wont be able to malestorm metior shower or firestorm, for necros its the wells and mesmers chaos storm, these will all be worthless now which makes missions such as Thunderhead Keep, Abaddons Mouth and Ring of Fire even harder than before.

The update is a broken attempt at a good thing. Like people have mentioned the "holy trinity" PvE was too simplistic, or at least most players thought it was. I've played with mesmers/rangers/necros and they're very good but most PUGs won't have anything to do with them.

The mobs SHOULD flee from firestorm / meteor shower, but at the same time they should NOT flee from aftershock. And melee monsters shouldn't flee, that's just silly. They just look like morons stepping into and out of Balth's Aura range over and over and never attacking.

My prediction: ANet will make another update bringing this closer to balanced fairly soon. They know that monsters running from Aftershock and Glad's Defense and melee monsters running into and out of AoE range is silly. But in principal the update is good. The mobs (and the henches) were stupid and it's good that ANet is working to improve them.

FYI I farm as a smite monk, and it still works, albeit more slowly since they flee from Balth's Aura and Aftershock now. Shield of Judgment is unaffected.

Oh, and ANet has said they don't have anything against farming in principle as long as certain players aren't getting WAY ahead of other players. If they really hated farming why would 15k armor exist? Another reason I predict they will fix the update.

I like the fact that this game isn't stagnant. Everyone will adjust. There's already new build and group profiles to deal with this (and they include monks and elems).

I disagree as well.

Finally a reason to bring snares in PvE. I do hope they tweak it though.
I tested EoE and sure enough mobs scattered when it went off.
This isnt "intellengent" If anything, they should kill the spirit or kill you faster to make it work in thier favor.
Plus, mobs scattering over minor AoE damage isnt smart either.
The AI is still very predictable, and sometimes ridiculously so.

Its wacky now, but I think its a step in the right direction. And Im glad they are making changes in the game to keep the players on thier toes. I hate this stagnet gameplay that people become accustome too. I think it makes people lazy and dumb teamplayers.

So my vote is not signed. But I would like to see continue improvements on AI.

Guild Wars suffers at the moment from an intensive nerf and bad coding issues wich can only bring sadness to it's player base...lets hope that Anet will get his senses back before it's too late....the mmorpg industry is allready full of good game ideas wich ended up badly due to repeated nerfs and coding errors.

I wouldn't mind about the patch so much if they turned up the drop rates to compensate.

Seriously though, the AoE (Area of Effect) avoidance code renders AoE-damage/time spells near-useless. While this is aimed at the solo-55 monks, it also severly hurts the AE-based elementalist. Agro management is now a nightmare given AoE's scatter effects.

I don't want to see ArenaNet's Guildwars service managers perform the same mistakes that Sony's Everquest and SWG divisions made by refusing to listen to its user base. I hope a reasonable compromise is implemented.

As for me, I don't play any solo monks nor elementalist. My war/monk and necro/mesmer are not really affected by the AI-upgrade. However, I can't say the same for those unfortunate enough to be playing elementalists. The solo-monk triggered this radical response, so I can't blame ArenaNet for its extreme countermeasures.

the name of the game is Guild Wars not Gold wars.

anet made it perfectly clear after pro bond was abused they would not tolerate solo farming and will be taking steps to fix it. they have said time and time again how they are combating the bots. if they do something to bots you didn't think it would affect you? how shallow.

they nerfed pro bond to hell and back. the people fell back on pro spirit. now what is the difference between pro bond and pro spirit. pro spirit is used by EVERY prot monk in pvp. pro bond was only used for pve so no problem with killing the skill. if they had killed pro spirit instead of aoe dmg more people would have been outraged. only the farmers and bad players have a problem with this update. the rest of us are making new tactics and continueing on. your fight is useless. the devs have never rolled back any update they have made.

pve isn't that important as the game was not built around it. since there is no penalty in death and you never lose anything no matter how bad you pve is trivial.

now that bots are slowed and the econemy will be slowed your crafting material might accually be worth something now. as it is there are about 5 items worth anything excluding weapons. the market was out of control and it was fixed. then the solo bots and farmers pumped so much junk into econemy that its worth nothing. ecto is high b/c.....i have no idea. fow armor is nothing but a life sink. will take you months to farm and come up with enough money to buy it. still no point. most people i have talked to would trade in their fow armor for the money and materials they spent on getting it. they die just the same as anyone else with drok armor. it doesn't make a bit of difference.

i have an ele, monk, ranger, 2 war, and necro. i am loving this update. for once pugs cannot judge you by what you use. oh your not an echo nuker sorry *kicked*. you don't have wop sorry *kicked*. your not a tank sorry *kicked*.

i got so sick of that linier thinking and no room for anyone to play the game the way the REALLY wanted to. you say that you can't play the way you want b/c you can't use your aoe. well guess what if you didn't play the same way as every one else you didn't get into parties. you had to conform your strategy to what everyone else wanted. doesn't seem like you played the game YOU wanted to play. its how everyone else wanted you to play. you just grew used to it. now the game has a challenge and people flip out. you have had it easy since the release and the game has constantly grown harder. that is the way it should be. if you could make the same amount of gold you could have at the time of release then most people would not play this game more than 3 months. you would have already ran though it all. you have been spoiled by anets easy system for so long that when they make just a little harder all you can do is bitch.

only problem i have is the henches. they run too much and the 1 time shot aoe dmg spells should not be able to run before i even cast it.

Which is exactly why ANet has to stop being retarded and nerfing builds that only work in PvE, for a very specific purpose, under very specific situations, and don't directly affect other players' experiences at all. I wonder if they will ever realize that they can put an end to solo farming (and ebayers and inflation and item hogging) without screwing up other players.

(And if ANet was really trying to make mobs smarter so PvE would become more interesting, I'm afraid they might need to hire some better programmers. )

Anet doesn't want you to farm and made it clear time and time again. It isn't the purpose of the game.
If you are not supposed to farm, then Anet were total assholes puting in the little things called the Fissure armor. If not for farming, how the hell else do you expect to get the necessary funds, and materials? Perhaps you think it would be better to play through the game 100000 times, because last I heard, a fissure set was approximately 1.8 million to finance.

THIS UPDATE HAS RUINED MY GW LIFE

i have
a farming w/mo lvl 20 .. i spend ages perfecting because i enjoy it.
a ele/n pyromancer..bye bye fire storm + meoteor shower
and 2 slots for pvp

so either i live off pvp (i love pve)

or i give up!! and go sk8 again!

PLZ AREANET FIX THIS!!
